Unseres Projekt "Fornieles Galerie & Atelier" befindet sich am Fuße der Albrechtsburg in einem Gebäude, in dem früher die Bühnenbilder für das Stadttheater Meißen hergestellt wurden. Tatsächlich war das Gebäude die Werkstatt des Stadttheaters. Heute ist es ein renoviertes und saniertes Gebäude, in dessen Erdgeschoss sich hinter dem historischen, mit Rauten verzierten Holzportal das Atelier des Künstlers befindet, mit Zugang zu einem Obergeschoss, in dem der Künstler das Projekt „Meet the Artist” anbietet: zwischen 2 und 2,5 Stunden Unterhaltung mit Kunst und den verschiedenen Serien aus unterschiedlichen Epochen, die der Showroom beherbergt.

Emilio Fornieles, *1975 in Terrassa (Barcelona) geboren, ist ein spanischer, andalusischer (Lepe, Huelva) bildender Künstler und seit 2013 in Deutschland (Berlin) ansässig. Seit 2022 befindet sich sein Atelier in Meißen.

Fornieles ist ein geschätzter internationaler Künstler mit einer Vielzahl von Ausstellungen. Er wurde mit nationalen und internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet, die in verschiedensten Museen, Stiftungen, Institutionen und Privatsammlungen zu bestaunen sind – in Deutschland, aber auch in Spanien, Italien, Portugal, Tschechien, Dänemark, USA, u.a.

Er ist sehr stolz darauf, dass einige seiner Bilder seit Oktober 2018 zur Sammlung Ihrer Majestäten der Königen von Spanien gehören. Vom portugiesischen Literatur­­-Nobelpreisträgern Saramago gefördert, ist Emilio Fornieles ein Vertreter der neuen spanischen Figuration auf internationaler Ebene.

Der in Meißen lebende spanische Künstler, der 2025 Sachsen im Rahmen der kulturellen Vielfalt und als internationaler Künstler im Ausstellungs- und Verbreitungsprojekt „Sachsen in Paris“ mit seiner bekannten Live-Malperformance auf der Bühne im Louvre-Museum präsentierte, indem er das Porträt von Louis de Funés in etwa einer Stunde kopfüber malte. Zur sächsischen Delegation gehörten unter anderem Ministerpräsident Michael Kretschmer und Barbara Klepsch (CDU), Staatsministerin für Kultur und Tourismus. Die Veranstaltung wurde von der französischen Delegation bei der UNESCO unterstützt.

2025 feierte der Flamenco sein 15-jähriges Jubiläum als immaterielles Kulturerbe der Menschheit. Im Mittelpunkt der Aktivitäten des XV. Jubiläums des Flamenco in UNESCO, stand das internationale Projekt „Del taller a las tablas“ des Künstlers Emilio Fornieles in Málagas Museum. Das Projekt würde in mehreren Ländern der EU bereits präsentiert, verbindet dieses Projekt Bildende Kunst und Flamenco zu einer Live-Performance, die die Intimität des Atelierprozesses auf die Bühne bringt. Fornieles zeigt Kunst als unmittelbares, ungefiltertes Bühnenerlebnis – im Dialog mit der Universalität des Flamenco.

Die Veranstaltung findet nur mit Reservierung statt und ist für Gruppen von 6 bis maximal 25 Personen ausgelegt. Sie besteht aus einer Führung durch die aktuelle Ausstellung im Atelier im Erdgeschoss mit dem Künstler sowie einem Besuch des Showrooms im ersten Stock. Im Preis inbegriffen sind ein 6-Gänge-Tapas-Menü, 0,1 l Rotwein DOCa Rioja (Bodegas Campillo), 0,1 l Vinho Verde Weiß und 0,1 l Vinho Verde Rosé. Die Dauer beträgt 2 bis 2,5 Stunden. Der Preis beträgt 49 € pro Person (ohne MwSt.) und eine Anmeldung ist hier unten erforderlich. Our project, ‘Fornieles Gallery & Studio,’ is located at the foot of Albrechtsburg Castle in a building that was once used to produce stage sets for the Meissen City Theatre. In fact, the building was the theatre's workshop. Today, it is a renovated and refurbished building, with the artist's studio located on the ground floor behind the historic wooden portal decorated with diamonds, with access to an upper floor where the artist offers the ‘Meet the Artist’ project: between 2 and 2.5 hours of entertainment with art and the various series from different eras housed in the showroom.

Emilio Fornieles, born in Terrassa (Barcelona) in 1975, is a Spanish visual artist from Andalusia (Lepe, Huelva) who has been living in Germany (Berlin) since 2013. Since 2022, his studio has been located in Meissen.

Fornieles is a highly regarded international artist with a large number of exhibitions to his name. He has been awarded national and international prizes, and his work can be admired in various museums, foundations, institutions and private collections in Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Czechia, Denmark, the USA and elsewhere.

He is very proud that some of his paintings have been part of the collection of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain since October 2018. Promoted by Portuguese Nobel Prize winner Saramago, Emilio Fornieles is a representative of the new Spanish figuration on an international level.

The Spanish artist, who lives in Meissen, represented Saxony in 2025 as part of cultural diversity and as an international artist in the exhibition and dissemination project ‘Saxony in Paris’ with his well-known live painting performance on stage at the Louvre Museum, painting the portrait of Louis de Funés upside down in about an hour. The Saxon delegation included Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and Barbara Klepsch (CDU), Minister of State for Culture and Tourism. The event was supported by the French delegation to UNESCO.

In 2025, flamenco celebrated its 15th anniversary as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The focus of the activities for the 15th anniversary of flamenco at UNESCO was the international project ‘Del taller a las tablas’ by artist Emilio Fornieles at the Museum of Málaga. The project, which has already been presented in several EU countries, combines visual arts and flamenco in a live performance that brings the intimacy of the studio process to the stage. Fornieles presents art as an immediate, unfiltered stage experience – in dialogue with the universality of flamenco.

The event is by reservation only and is designed for groups of 6 to a maximum of 25 people. It consists of a guided tour of the current exhibition in the studio on the ground floor with the artist, as well as a visit to the showroom on the first floor. The price includes a 6-course tapas menu, 0.1 l DOCa Rioja red wine (Bodegas Campillo), 0.1 l of Vinho Verde white and 0.1 l of Vinho Verde rosé. The duration is 2 to 2.5 hours.
